The last and final of his seven seasons spent in Manhattan with the Blueshirts, Anders Hedberg would register impressive numbers during his swan-song campaign in 1984-85, netting 51 points in just 64 games. The season would also witness the awarding of the Bill Masterton Trophy to the superstar. This New York Rangers jersey was worn by Hedberg during his final NHL season, in 1984-85. A Gerry Cosby label is affixed to the collar, along with a laundering tag and “52” size swatch. Styled with “Rangers” placed diagonally across the chest in layered drop-shadow tackle twill, “15” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material along with “Hedberg” over the upper reverse. A single-garter loop-style fight strap has also been utilized. From his awarded-winning concluding season, a signed LOA from Anders Hedberg will accompany this Big Apple treasure.
Heavy game-use is exhibited on the desirable sweater, with marks, pulls, burns and scrapes all present throughout, with some minor fraying to the front and reverse shoulder bands. The garment is also littered with team repairs, with examples visible on the front (2), reverse (1) and sleeves (4). There is also some minor discolouration in spots including the front left shoulder, with areas of the front somewhat sticky from a former framing.
