Already familiar with Pittsburgh from his first tenure with the club in the early-2000s, Alexei Kovalev returned to “Steel City” once more during the 2010-11 season, suiting up for 27 games in black and gold between the regular season and playoffs. Offered here, is this Pittsburgh Penguins third jersey worn by the Russian star during the 2010-11 season. Featuring a single size “58” label affixed to the inner collar, crests for the NHL and Reebok decorate the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled over the front with a vintage style Penguins team crest reminiscent of what they wore during their expansion years, the tie-neck garment has had the Consol Energy Centre inaugural season patch sewn over the right shoulder. The sleeves and verso have been accented with Kovalev’s number “27” in layered navy-over-white tackle twill numerals while “Kovalev’ has been spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Worn for just a couple of games, the jersey shows light game wear through a handful of stick marks over the sleeves and front. Of note, stains not associated with game use are also observed over the front and right sleeve of the jersey. With the fight strap cut out of the interior, the hem underneath has had a Penguins team tagging patch sewn in, with a matching Penguins COA accompanying the jersey.
