Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The Vancouver Canucks franchise record holder for most wins by a coach, Alain Vigneault earned the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top coach of the year in 2006–07. The Quebec City native got his start behind the bench with Montreal, coaching the Habs for four seasons from 1997-98 to 2000-01. Originally displayed at the Bell Centre, we have a framed painting of Alain Vigneault by noted Habs artist Michel Lapensee. At approx 11” x 15” and executed in water colours, Vigneault is wonderfully depicted, with his name and tenure listed on the matte. The artist has signed, adding the date (1997), with the work double-matted and framed to approx 19” x 23”. The unique painting is flawless, with some light wear to the frame. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
