Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Beginning his NHL career with 6 games played for the Los Angeles Kings in 1970-71, Al McDonough would also dress for Pittsburgh and Atlanta before jumping to the WHA, with a single season spent in Cleveland before transitioning with the club as they moved to Minnesota and adopted the Fighting Saints moniker for the 1976-77 season. Existing for a mere 42 games during the 1976-77 WHA season, we have an especially scarce Fighting Saints jersey worn by McDonough. Rawlings and Steichens labels with “48” sizing are affixed to the collar, with no other tagging present. Featuring an attractive tri-colour Saints team crest with chain-stitched detailing, “26” appears over the sleeves and verso in yellow-over-white tackle twill, with “McDonough” over the affixed nameplate in single white twill. A loop-style fight strap is intact, and we should note the jersey’s red colour has bled through the letters over the nameplate.
Remaining in beautiful condition with rich and vibrant colouration, there are a few random marks and material pulls present, with a small stain over the lower right cuff. There is also a bit of puckering to the team crest, with a single large stick burn over the upper right sleeve.
