Renowned for having one of the hardest shots in the NHL, Al Iafrate was selected to four NHL All-Star Game’s over the course of his 799 game National Hockey League career with this jersey worn by the defenceman at the 1994 edition of the midseason classic in New York City. CCM and Center Ice labels along with a size “56” fly tag sit affixed to the collar, with NHL and CCM crests embroidered over the rear hem. Featuring a partially embroidered “Eastern” team crest, the sweater has been accented with Iafrate’s number “34” sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with the 1994 NHL All-Star Game patches over each shoulder. A UDA hologram has also been heat-pressed to the inside hem, and it denotes the jersey as being one of the examples made for Iafrate for the 1994 NHL All-Star Game. Despite being worn for just a single contest, the jersey shows good game-wear through numerous stick marks over the front and both sleeves while stains are present on the reverse. Additionally, Iafrate has signed over the top of the reverse with a black ink signature that displays without issue. The jersey is accompanied by an NHL LOA.
Also included with the lot, is a stick that is attributed to being the one Iafrate used during the 1993 Super Skills Competition Hardest Shot Competition in which he fired a record-breaking 105.2 mph shot as stated in the original sale from 2009. A KOHO Revolution 2240 model void of any “Iafrate” stamping, wear is seen via marks, abrasions and chipping throughout the entirety of the shaft while the lumber retains its original white tape over both the knob/handle and blade. Puck marks are seen over the blade tape as well as the heel and lower shaft. Iafrate has signed the frontside of the blade tape in black ink with an added inscription reading “Best of luck always”. Both the signature and inscription display without issue. Videos from the competition do show Iafrate using this model of stick with the proper Iafrate tape jobs on both the knob and blade. A match couldn't be made to the stick due to the lower quality of the videos so the stick is being offered as “attributed" to that event. An Iafrate signed 1994 All-Star Game 8” x 10” photo is also included.
