Drafted 39th overall by the Whalers in 1987, Adam Burt would go on to play eleven (11) of his thirteen (13) years in the organization, following the club upon their move from Hartford to Carolina after 1996-97 and playing with the Hurricanes for two seasons before closing out his career with single season stints in Philadelphia and Atlanta. Up for grabs here, is this Hartford Whalers jersey worn by Burt in the late-1980s, possibly during his five (5) game stint with the club in 1988-89 as well as during the first part of the 1989-90 campaign as well. Made by CCM, a washed out Maska Air-Knit tag displaying a handwritten number “6” identifier is affixed to the inner collar while the “small block” CCM logo has been embroidered over the reverse hem. Measuring out to roughly a size “50”, the front of the jersey has been styled with the iconic Whalers team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have had Burt’s number “6” sewn to them in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals while “Burt” is spelt out in matching style across the top of the reverse with letters that have been sewn directly to the piece. Exhibiting game-wear via stick marks to the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns are also observed over the shoulders and both sleeves while red board paint transfer marks decorate the reverse hem and left cuff. Additional wear is viewed through rips and reinforcements of the collar plus rusting and salting of the fight strap. Furthermore, Burt has signed the reverse number with a fine black ink signature that displays without issue and has added an inscription personalizing the jersey above.
