Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Relics of the highly cherished Victorian age, these 19th century ice skates allows one to venture back and reminisce about life and sport when hockey was just a burgeoning pastime in it’s infancy. We have two pairs of desirable examples with finished wooden bases and solid steel blades. The first example sports especially attractive and overly large curled blade tips, with “WJ Kallam Cin. O.” stamped to each blade. The second pair feature wonderful gold-coloured metal stars that have been inlaid within the wooden base of each skate, with the tips terminating after a slight curve. Marked “Bridge St Works” along with “Sheffield”, the skates survive admirably, with both pairs exhibiting expected wear to the bases and oxidation to the blades.
We should also note that the “Sheffield” pair exhibit some cracks to the wooden bases, with a small amount of grey paint on one skate.
