Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Formidable display piece features images of hockey’s two most deadliest offensive players in their All-Star uniforms and also includes the famous arch in St. Louis, site of the 1988 NHL All-Star Game. That’s the one in which Mario Lemieux scored three goals and three assists, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Wales Conference to a 6-5 win over Wayne Gretzky’s Campbell Conference stars. Both legends penned big flowing marker autographs in the white border below their images, adding their famous numbers. Also signed “Fa. Steiner” by the artist and numbered “88/500”, the lithograph has been framed to 22” by 28”. A 3” scratch running from Mario’s “66” to Wayne’s glove is to mention but detracts little on this big-time piece. Accompanying the framed lithograph is a signed Mario Lemieux Penguins jersey. With CCM and size tagging in the collar, the garment is in beautiful condition, with no issues to note. Mario has placed a nice and thin silver sharpie marker autograph to the first back "6", and it projects extremely well against the black background.
