Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
One of the most memorable tournaments in international hockey history, the 1987 Canada Cup saw Canada, led by superstars Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, defeat an equally powerful Soviet squad, one of the best they ever assembled, two games to one in the tightly contested best of three final. This wooden plaque made to commemorate Team Canada's victory originates from the offices of the NHL. At 7 1/2" x 11”, a chromed cast metal half maple leaf is supported by a 1” tall wooden base with beveled backing and affixed small metal plate that reads “Coupe – Canada – Cup”. Displaying beautifully there is just some light wear present but nothing obtrusive.
