Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

O-Pee-Chee was back with a 264-card effort for 1986-87 and the Oilers were back on top of the hockey world at season’s end after the Canadiens’ Stanley Cup victory a year earlier. The heroic efforts of playoff MVP Patrick Roy (and his ensuing formidable career) have made Saint Patrick’s rookie card the focal point of OPC’s ’86-87 set, with the example here exhibiting a couple of subtle but notable condition issues. An almost-top-to-bottom light indentation/“line” rises up from the bottom edge, through the Habs logo and Patrick’s trapper to reach the dark background just above the boards, with a couple of small surface indentations also detected. We’ll refrain from assigning a grade, with two light corner touches also noteworthy. The still-attractive well-centered card is joined by minimally-handled examples in the NM to MINT range. Mario Lemieux’s second-year card (NM) features a slight diamond cut, with some light blue ink in the top left corner region of Wendel Clark’s otherwise NM rookie card and that of John Vanbiesbrouck at NM-MT. Clean, flat cards await you here.
