Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

Groovy World Hockey Association collectibles are plentiful here, with the two uncut sheets in our title cool to look at. There are multiple but not atrocious creases and a one-inch edge tear in the 1974-75 OPC card sheet, with “The Howes” famous card beside the checklist in the lower right corner, with Jacques Plante and Bobby Hull cards nearby. Bobby’s key ’73-74 Quaker Oats card shows up three times on a 35-card sheet that also features Cheevers, Lacroix and Dorey, with only light peripheral creasing/wear to report. We’ll say VG to EX for two ’73-74 WHA poster sets of 24, with most of one affected by a gum stain. Interesting autograph action highlights some of the rest, with 17 Houston Aeros media photos all signed in either blue or red marker, with Gordie Howe’s autograph personalized “Hi Tom – Best regards.” Andre Lacroix and Paul Shmyr headline the signing lineup in seven of 14 San Diego Mariners “picture pack” pictures, with an unseparated group of seven also present. Twenty near mint ’72-73 Quebec Nordiques Pro Star Promotions color postcards include J.C. Tremblay and goalie Richard Brodeur, while also from the WHA’s first season are team sets of Los Angeles Sharks “cards” (19) and New England Whalers (17) real (4” x 5”) photographs. A dozen miscellaneous-size Toronto Toros photos include six 8 by 10s, with Hall of Famer Vaclav Nedomansky autographing his image – nice. A Pelkowski caricature print of Pat Stapleton with the Indy Racers and some other items complete the stash, with three postcard-size action cards picturing and autographed (personalized) by Mariner Robbie Ftorek and team pics of the ’72-73 Sharks and ’75 Baltimore Blades most noteworthy.
