Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

Puck enthusiasts will be excited by this sensational ensemble which features coveted 1973-74 goal pucks from each of the 16 NHL teams, the customs’ declaration on the original shipping box revealing that they were sent to a collector who had paid $16 for them! Added appeal is in the fact that a home team player scored with them; i.e. Johnny Bucyk scored with the Bruins puck, Jean Ratelle with a Rangers, Bill Barber with a Flyers, etc. Most pucks are Converse jobs, with the exception of the three Canadian teams and, curiously, Atlanta, with the logos of the latter four, (Viceroys with the small “CANADA” on the side), displaying the best. Soiling is to note on the logos of the Converse pucks, with the majority improvable. The ’73-74 season was the second of two in which pucks used to score goals were labeled and sold to the public. The full scoring lineup and condition details of this fascinating collection are available on our website.
It’ll be fun for the lucky high bidder to do some research to see if any big-time players drew assists on the goals, with the aforementioned joined by the following goal-scorers: Chicago – Pit Martin, Detroit – Henry Boucha, Montreal – Murray Wilson, Toronto – Mike Pelyk, Pittsburgh – Syl Apps Jr., Oakland – Joey Johnston, Los Angeles – Bob Nevin, St. Louis – Chris Evans, Minnesota – Danny Grant, Buffalo – Rene Robert, Vancouver – Don Lever, New York Islanders – Ed Westfall and Atlanta – Jacques Richard. We spot a character-enhancing skate slice/nick or two in a few pucks, with a chip to note on the back edge of the Red Wings biscuit. The label on the Canadiens puck was partially lifted and then two pieces of scotch tape were used to tape it back down. All-in-all though, exceptional game-used memorabilia!
