Forever recognized as the most important international hockey tournament ever played, the 1972 Summit Series continues to fascinate fans and collectors today, with any and all memorabilia pertaining to the paramount East vs West showdown highly desirable and sought after. We have a number of signed items, along with other interesting items that don’t come available often to the collecting community. We have a home TV program signed on the cover by Brad Park, we have a Swedish program with Dryden on the cover, a Russian book featuring the tournament on the cover, also signed by Park. There is also a BOAC boarding pass and itinerary, a tournament schedule and signatures from Henderson, Cournoyer, Mahovlich and others.
Regarding the signed items in this lot, the Henderson and Mahovlich signatures appear on 8” x 10” photos, while signature cuts from Cournoyer, Ferguson and Paul Henderson are present along with a pair of signed Future Trends cards from Bergman and Goldsworthy. The BOAC boarding pass and itinerary shows an issue date of Sept 11th 1972, and it remains in good condition, made for a Mr. A Marchand. Next we have a pair of postcards, one for the Summit Series, the other for the 1974 edition, along with a ticket stub from the “Relive the Dream” event in 1987. The home TV program and Russian book both remain in very good condition, with the Park signatures flawless. The Swedish exhibition program has an insert with facsimile signatures from Team Canada, and the publication remains in very good condition, with loss to the cover along the bottom left. Lastly, we have 10 different copies of The Toronto Sun from 1972/1973, each profiling the series on the cover, with expected toning along with handling wear from prior use. As an added bonus, we also have a copy of the 1974 Series program, issued for the Canadian contests, and it remains in excellent condition, with just light handling and cover wear, including along the spine.
