Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The only league in the past century seen as serious competition to the NHL, the WHA operated from 1972-79, with their lasting legacy being the four expansion teams that joined the NHL in 1979. We have an impressive group of coloured Biltrite WHA pucks totaling 21, spanning from 1972-76. Found in much lower quantity then their generic black counterparts, we have pairs of 1972 blue with red WHA logos, 1972 blue with white WHA logos, along with a 1972 Raiders blue w/advertisement reverse, a 1972-73 Nordiques blue w/red AMH logo, a 1972 Blazers red home opener souvenir, a 1975-76 Whalers orange w/advertisement reverse, a 1972-76 Blazers red with advertising within logo, a Cowboys red w/sticker (not screened-on), a 1972 Jets blue w/blank reverse, a 1975 Saints blue w/blank reverse, and more! This item is relisted from our spring 2017 auction as Rob Bullock from BC (Canada) failed to honor his bid.
Also included, we have a pair of blue Nordiques slugs along with Aeros and Crusaders examples, with an additional 3 blank blue pucks and one red. The majority of the pucks remain in especially pleasing condition, with little wear to the logos and no cuts, grooves or gouges present. The exceptions are the Cowboys puck (tape on the reverse), one of the blue w/orange WHA logo examples (heavy wear to logo), the 1975 Saints blue (wear to the top edge), one of the Nordiques blue pucks (heavy wear throughout), the 1972 Raiders w/advertisement reverse (wear to logo) and the 1972 Jets blue (mounting hole on reverse).
