Outfitting a number of pros and amateurs throughout the 1960s and 1970s including a rookie Grant Fuhr, noted Edmonton mask maker Gerry Schultz produced this heavy fiberglass specimen in 1973 for use by the Camrose Vikings’ Dave Hewko. Constructed of thick and heavy fiberglass with Gerry’s trademark "O" mouth hole, the original strapping and padding is intact, with a Cooper SK2 back plate utilized. In a solid dark red finish, the mask exhibits heavy wear from use including numerous marks and scratches, with the edge a bit ground-down at the bottom of the chin. The strapping also shows considerable wear, with some minor staining to the interior along with a crack over the lower right side that runs through the material. A Schultz stamp with the goaltender’s name appears within the interior, common for his masks. These high quality vintage fiberglass affairs are all but drying up in the hobby, especially examples produced by prominent makers.
