Quality makes up for quantity when it comes to rookie cards in Parkhurst’s 1961-62 issue, with the oh so coveted rookie card of all-time Maple Leafs’ great Dave Keon always in demand and with good reason. This Parkie ensemble is dominated by VG, VG+ and VG-EX cards that are mostly free of creases or with a light not-obvious crease. Such is the case with the Keon RC, with a subtle light back crease and bend, a two-inch vertical/diagonal affair rising up from the bottom edge to attain the middle of the right edge, when viewing the front, the latter with evidence of some wax removal. We’d say VG or just shy, with Gordie Howe and Henri Richard among a half-dozen condition leaders making it to EX. Half a dozen condition exceptions include the first (1-Horton) and last (51-Pronovost) cards, as well as 25-Delvecchio, 31-Sawchuk (G+) and 7-Shack, with Eddie displaying similarly until a sizeable moisture stain is seen on the reverse. We spot a dozen with wax stains on the back (Plante (VG+), Geoffrion (VG-EX)), while ten cards look to have had a coin gently rubbed across the “punch line”. A respectable, rather uniform condition assembly for your enjoyment.
