Hall of Famer Norm Ullman’s rookie card, graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, leads the encapsulated contingent here, with Topps’ 1957-58 set always interesting to check out and describe. A trio of secondary RCs are also in PSA holders, with 36-Guyle Fielder and 50-Forbes Kennedy also 6s and 52-Guy Gendron slabbed VG-EX 4. Three other graded entries are present but we’ll first get to the star/rookie cards. First appearing EX is Glenn Hall’s key rookie but small light creasing in the bottom right corner region send it to VG+. At G is the Johnny Bucyk RC, with that of Pierre Pilote VG+. Although intermittent centering issues are observed, a group of (18) condition leaders are easily EX+ (we’d say EX-MTs are the majority, with a couple making it to NM), with Gordie Howe (EX+ (OC)) headlining and joined by 21-Lindsay, 48-Kelly and 53-Worsley, as well as RCs of 14-Simmons, 26-Litzenberger, 27-Vasko, 44-McNeil and 58-Hebenton. Corner touches and an imperfect bottom edge equal VG-EX+ for 35-Sawchuk. As for the rest of the raw contributors, our consignor in this case was not fond of creases, with VG, VG+ and VG-EX examples dominating and joined by a few EXs. The aforementioned other slabbed cards include 8-Caffery and 54-Popein at PSA NM 7, with Beckett rendering a 6.5 EX-MT+ verdict for 24-Nesterenko. More colorful collectibles from the Original Six era to contemplate.
