Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Fuelled by Jacques Plante's rookie card and a wonderful lineup of then current and past Canadiens and Maple Leafs and the buildings where they helped write hockey history, Parkhurst's 1955-56 issue has always been popular. Two light back creases not detectable from the front and some light staining, mostly on the reverse, render the Plante rookie an attractive VG in our eyes. The majority are better at VG+, VG-EX and VG-EX+, with some making it to EX and only a half dozen (Beliveau (VG), 78-The Montreal Forum (G)) exhibiting an obvious crease, while six others (Harvey, Vezina) sport gum/wax stains on the back. Light corner/edge wear and color loss in the lower red strip are the most common grade-lowering flaws, but overall, this assembly would satisfy numerous hobbyists not requiring high, high grade examples. The last card, 79-Maple Leaf Gardens, is EX and a terrific way to conclude this red, white and blue bubble gum card bonanza.
