Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Tim Horton is a name synonymous with toughness, durability, and excellence on the blue line.
Horton established himself as one of the most formidable defensemen in NHL history, known for
his remarkable strength, smooth skating, and unyielding defensive play. He played 24 NHL
seasons, primarily with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he became a cornerstone of the team’s
defensive core. Horton was instrumental in leading the Leafs to four Stanley Cup
championships (1962, 1963, 1964, and 1967), anchoring the team’s blue line with his physical
presence and smart puck movement. Beyond his physical prowess, Horton was also known for
his offensive contributions from the back end, recording over 500 career points—a remarkable
feat for a defenseman of his era. His leadership and presence on the ice made him one of the
most respected players of his generation. After his tragic passing in 1974, his legacy was further
cemented with his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
This Tim Horton rookie card, graded PSA NM-MT 8, stands as a highly desirable piece of
hockey history. Only 14 copies of this card have received a PSA 8 grade, and it is bettered by
just seven others on the PSA population report out of the 428 submitted over the years. This
example is housed in an essentially flawless PSA holder.
