Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
A young Gordie Howe and his Detroit Red Wing teammates were in the midst of establishing an all-time record when little boxes of Parkhurst hockey cards showed up for the very first time in stores – oh, how it must have been a special time for kids and other hockey fans to see depictions of the players that they had heard about while listening to hockey games on the radio or reading about in the newspaper. The aforementioned record, by the way, consisted of winning the NHL’s regular season seven! consecutive times, with Howe leading the league in scoring in ’51-52 for the second of four straight seasons and the Red Wings going undefeated in the playoffs – what a player, what a team! And what a card to add to your stash is Gordie’s rookie, with this example recently receiving a 4 VGE verdict from KSA. Rounding at the corners and a little creasing in the bottom right corner region are observed, along with a problem-free back. A small light scuff to the right of the card is spotted in the KSA holder.
