Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The premier set issued by Canadian company Parkhurst and difficult to find in high-grade condition due to the poor quality of cardstock that was used, the 1951-52 Parkies set of 105-cards featured the iconic first-year cardboard of HOFers such as Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk and of course, Maurice Richard with this copy of “Rocket’s” treasured rookie card having been assessed a near-perfect mark of MINT 9 by the graders at SGC many moons ago. A purely spectacular example that has been bested by no other examples of the card that have been graded by SGC, the company has examined 105 copies of it in their history with only eight (8) ever having been bestowed a MINT 9 designation. Additionally, on the PSA side of things, their population report shows that only five (5) copies of Richard's RC have received MINT 9 grades and none have been graded higher. Displaying with beautiful colours, sharp corners and clean surfaces that one would come to expect from such an esteemed example, the card, coveted in any condition and rarely popping up in state such as this one, the SGC holder that the card is preserved in remains in good condition with just a small handful of scratches and light scuffs over both sides worth pointing out for accuracy. A true treasure for our lucky winning bidder to behold and gawk at!
