Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

All-time greats Jean Beliveau and Jacques Plante highlight this black and white regional set, long identified as "Laval Dairy", with however a firm by the name of Bedard & Donaldson actually issuing the cards which feature Quebec Senior Hockey League players. We question the release date too, with Beliveau being hailed as the league's champion scorer for 1951-52 on the front of his card #1. Typically, it has a few condition issues, with toning, edge/corner wear, a half-inch diagonal crease in the lower left corner, surface scuffs and staining in the right border, but no unsightly creases. "Good" example is joined by a nicer 92-Plante card; a stain is in the left border, otherwise it's easily EX+. Other keys include Valleyfield coach 76-Toe Blake (EX+) and Quebec bench boss 37-Punch Imlach (EX+), with 16-Herbie Carnegie and 73-Larry Kwong two of nine cards with glue stains on the otherwise blank backs. The rest are dominated by VG+, VG-EX, EX and EX+ examples, with some making it to EX-MT and some lesser, with very few creases spotted. Intermittent and varying degrees of toning is also to mention.
