One of the most historic National League teams, the St. Louis Cardinals can trace their lineage back to the late 19th century when they were referred to as the Browns. With the second-most World Series wins of all-time, the Cards were World Champions in 2011, 2006, 1982, 1967, 1964, 1946, 1944, 1942, 1934, 1931 and 1926. This lot features 6 World Series programs, all from Championship years for St. Louis. We have pairs of programs for 1942, 1944 and 1946, totaling 6.
At roughly 9” x 12” or slightly smaller, the condition for each of the offered World Series programs is as follows. 1) 1942 program issued for Yankee Stadium, scored for Game 4. The cover exhibits heavy toning as well as wear to the spine and edges, with a few stray pencil marks. The interior is fairly clean, with the center spread detached but present. 2) 1942 program issued for Sportsman’s Park, scored. With a vertical crease, the cover exhibits heavy toning along with surface/spine wear, dings and small creases. 3) 1944 program, unscored. Program remains in beautiful condition, just exhibiting some light toning and edge wear. 4) 1944 program, unscored. Program remains in pleasing condition, just exhibiting some light toning, surface dents and edge wear along with some wear to the spine. There is also a stain on the back cover along with a corner bend. 5) 1946 program issued for Sportsman’s Park, scored for Game 1. Program shows heavy wear, with creases, toning, dents, staining and an edge tear. There is also wear to the spine along with a considerable vertical crease. 6) 1946 program issued for Fenway Park, scored. Exhibiting edge, spine and surface wear, the program also shows a few small creases along with a clean interior.
