Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
One of the most beautiful card sets ever produced, the 1911-12 Imperial Tobacco C55 set featured a number of legendary stars from the era, with arguably none bigger than iconic Montreal Canadiens goalkeeper Georges Vezina. Playing in 16 full seasons with the Habs, Vezina had the lowest goals-against average in the league he played (NHA/NHL) seven times, and he led his club to Stanley Cup championships in 1916 and 1924. Remarkably, and as testament to how dedicated the Chicoutimi native was to his craft, when he joined the Canadiens in 1910, until being forced to retire in 1925, Vézina never missed a game nor allowed a substitute, playing in 328 consecutive regular season games and an additional 39 playoff games. The most valuable and desirable card in the entire classic set, we offer a Vezina rookie card graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA. This is one of the most sought after cards in the entire hobby, and according to the PSA Population Report, this is one of just 9 cards at this grade level, with 59 cards graded higher.
