Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Packed with period advertisements along with an array of hockey and sporting equipment, we have a wonderful collection of hockey guides and catalogs totaling 10, along with a copy of Babe Ruth Sports comics #7 from 1950 that features Turk Broda. The catalogs total 7 and include examples from Wilson’s (Toronto) for both 1924-25 and 1929-30, Reach/Wright & Ditson for 1939-40 (with original Jack Watson Sporting Goods envelope), White’s Limited for 1921 along with examples from 1967-68 for Dan Murray Sports in Montreal along with both CCM and Cooper Weeks. The 3 guides all include their original mailing envelopes, with Sweet Caporal examples for 1939-40 and 1940-41 along with a Crown Brand guide from 1935.
The earlier Wilson’s catalogs show wear, with the cover torn and material loss to the top left corner the 1924-25 example, while the 1929-30 catalog exhibits clear tape to the cover and along the spine. The 1921 White’s catalog remains in pleasing condition with light to moderate wear, while the 1939-40 Reach catalog shows only very light wear, with this example close to NOS. The three 1967-68 catalogs all exhibits minor handling wear, while the three offered guides all remain in wonderful condition with only very light handling wear, with some minor creasing to the cover of the 1939-40 example (the original envelopes all show heavy wear with creasing and staining). Lastly, the Babe Ruth comic book shows moderate wear, but remains in pleasing condition.
