In the spring of 2013, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup for the fifth time in their history, and second time in four years. Superstars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane led a core group of Blackhawks that were also members of the 2010 Stanley Cup champions, including Dave Bolland, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Patrick Sharp. Chicago got off to a record-setting start to the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season on its way to winning its first Presidents’ Trophy since 1990-91 with a league-leading 36-7-5 mark for 77 points. The Blackhawks rolled to a first-round playoff win over the Minnesota Wild in five games before escaping the second round with an overtime win against Detroit in Game 7. Sharp’s double-OT winner in Game 5 of the Western Conference final against reigning Cup champions L.A. sent Chicago through to an Original Six final against Boston. With the Bruins protecting a one-goal lead late in Game 6 it appeared that they had set up an ultimate game to decide the Stanley Cup Final. But Bryan Bickell drew the Blackhawks even with 1:16 remaining and Bolland delivered the Cup winner 17 seconds later. Kane claimed the Conn Smythe Trophy and senior hockey operations advisor Scotty Bowman had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup for the 13th time. Bickell, Bollig, Brookbank, Carcillo, Crawford, Emery, Frolik, Handzus, Kruger, Leddy, Mayers, Oduya, Rozsival, Saad, Shaw, Smith and Stalberg added their names to Chicago’s Cup lore along with video coach Tim Campbell, who was presented with this 2012-13 Blackhawks Stanley Cup championship 14-karat gold and diamond ring.
This majestic white gold creation weighs approximately 93 grams including a mindboggling 222 round white diamonds, four marquise diamonds, 25 yellow diamonds, 37 rubies and two emeralds. “Stanley Cup” and “Champions” are spelled out on the upper and lower bezels surrounding the Blackhawks logo on the tableau that is filled with diamonds and sits in a bed of 30 custom-cut red rubies. The left and right bezels and the surrounding edge are filled with diamonds. “Campbell” is spelled across the top and “Blackhawks” along the bottom that features the crossed tomahawks secondary logo shoulder patch crest, with yellow diamonds set in the C and seven rubies in the handles, which each have a pear-shaped emeralds set in the top. The right shank displays “2013” in red enamel across the top along with five Stanley Cups, each filled with diamonds, representing Chicago’s championship years, with the first four title years numbered on the bowls of the pairs of Cups that flank the large one in the middle. The NHL shield, the team logos of Chicago’s 2013 playoff opponents and series results are engraved inside the size 9 1/2 band along with the “One Goal” team rallying cry and the “Jostens (copyright symbol) 14K” stamp. This incredible ring remains in all-but-pristine condition with but a few of only the faintest and finest scratches to the band that are only apparent upon close examination. It is displayed in its original presentation box with “Chicago Blackhawks 2013 Stanley Cup Champions” on the glass insert in the lid, which lights up when opened to enhance the ring’s display. The Jostens certificate of appraisal with an estimated insurance replacement value of $36,000 is included, along with Tim Campbell’s signed letter of authenticity.
