With 23 solid seasons as a player on his resume and later GM for the Carolina Hurricanes, Ron Francis was as consistent and as talented as just about anyone he played with and against during his amazing career, and the remarkable fellow whose name is engraved twice on the Stanley Cup was ultimately inducted into the HOF in 2007. Simply a star among stars was this Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. native, and to put it all into perspective, he garnered a breathtaking 1798 points in 1731 regular season NHL games, placing him 5th behind only Gretzky, Jagr, Messier and Howe. From the mid-1990s when Ron skated with the Pittsburgh Penguins (and collected the Lady Byng and Selke Trophies in ’94-95) is this game-used Louisville TPS stick, featuring his original tape jobs on the blade and knob, and with “Francis” stamped on the upper shaft with an handwritten “10”. Francis’ has signed the blade in silver paint pen and a factory stamp appears on the lower back shaft. A label which reads “93/94 Penguins” is affixed to the upper back shaft below the knob. Noticeable game wear includes marks along the shaft and blade on this solid uncracked stick.
