Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Created in 1999, this outstanding work of art title "Never Give Up" captures the legendary Maurice "Rocket" Richard as he gets ready to unleash one of his lethal wrist shots. The sterling silver-plated bronze statue of the Rocket in his classic number 9 Montreal Canadiens uniform features Maurice's facsimile autograph on the "ice" surface along with the artwork's title in English and French. Produced in bronze, silver and gold limited-editions, this particular silver-plated bronze statue is numbered "179/299" and presented by the artist to Richard himself, who gifted it to his son, Paulo. Mounted on a heavy diamond-shaped 7" x 16" granite base, the striking piece stands 9" tall and is in magnificent condition. This wonderful bronze is accompanied by a Richard Foundation pamphlet, a small 5” x 7” photo of Paulo posed with the trophy along with his signed LOA.
With just some light wear to the base, we should note that the felt affixed to the underside has come loose at each end, but does remain affixed.
