Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
A recent inductee to the HOF, Mark Recchi spent over 20 seasons in the world’s best league, and he became only the 13th player in NHL history to score 1,500 points during his career. This Montreal Canadiens alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the Kamloops native in 1998-99, his last season in Montreal, and it’s been photo-matched. Starter tagging sits along the collar, with embroidered NHL and Starter crests over the back bottom hem. Fashioned with the most famous team crest in hockey partially embroidered over the chest, the white V-neck has been embellished with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with an additional size swatch with handwritten “151” affixed to the inside hem. We should also note evidence of a former captain’s “C” beneath the current “A”.
A number of board burns are visible on the desirable sweater, with resulting holes/slits near the right elbow. There is also red paint transfer over the left sleeve along with a number of fabric pulls, with some pilling along the inner reverse tail from constant contact with the fight strap. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, an included numeric image has been matched to a pair of dark marks on the front of the jersey.
