Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
Coming off his best point season in 1970-71, Bobby Orr and the Bruins would defeat the Rangers in the 1972 Stanley Cup finals for the Beantowner's second championship in just 3 years. Orr would win his second Conn Smythe, third and final Hart Memorial and fifth James Norris Trophy in 1972, with the Bruins also taking home Lord Stanley’s coveted Cup. We have a stick used by the legendary blueliner in 1971-72. A Victoriaville Pro model with “B Orr” boldly stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains the original single black tape strand to the blade and white ribbed pattern to the handle (this was the last full season Orr used a single strand tape job, with the practice occurring sparsely over the 1974 to 1976 timeframe). Remnants of the striping accents remain, with the bottom example held in place with clear tape. Sporting nice game-use with wear to the blade including the underside and marks and additional wear to the shaft, the handle is also quite darkened now from use/handling. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany this prized lumber.
