Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Big, Bad Bruins of the early-1970s, HOF goalie Gerry Cheevers returned to Boston for a second stint after becoming one of the first NHL stars to jump to the rebel WHA. This signed stick was used by the St Catharines native during the mid-1970s. A Northland Registered Pattern model with “Cheevers” and “30” stamped to the upper shaft, the original black tape remains over the blade and upper paddle, with now-darkened white-over-black tape to the knob. Exhibiting light to moderate game-use with wear to the underside blade and marks to the paddle and shaft, there is also some chipping along the top edge of the upper paddle, with a crack to the blade visible beneath the tape. A piece of white stick tape has been added to the frontside shaft with Cheevers signing in black marker, adding “Best Wishes”, with bleeding occurring to the signature.
