Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Despite an age difference of almost 35 years, Wayne Gretzky was able to achieve a childhood dream of playing with the legendary Gordie Howe, with The Great One and Mr Hockey sharing the ice surface for the first time on Nov 17, 1979. This rare Nike proof poster hails from the late-1980s/early-1990s and has been signed by the incomparable duo. At approx 20 ½” x 27 ½”, and slightly smaller than the finished printed posters, the two are pictured all smiles in full uniform, with production marks present on each side and along the top and bottom borders. Originally given to our consignor from his mother-in-law, an employee at the printing company that produced the poster, the black marker signatures are both personalized, with moderate to heavier wear to the poster including creasing at each end, edge wear to the left side and a number of surface indentations. There is also a 3 ½” tear that runs from the top downwards. Condition issues aside, the poster would display brilliantly in a quality frame.
