The Los Angeles Kings were finally crowned Stanley Cup champions for the first time ever in the spring of 2012. Kings center Jeff Carter, who led all playoff scorers with eight goals, signed in bold black marker the padding inside the back of his white Bauer helmet with its Bauer visor attached during the 2011-12 regular season and in L.A.’s three road games in New Jersey in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Devils, as per the Kings LOA that accompanies it. The 2012 Stanley Cup Final decal is on the right back, and on the left back is the Kings’ “ACE MARK” decal commemorating scouts Garnet “Ace” Bailey and Mark Bavis who were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Carter had six goals and nine points in 16 regular season games for the Kings after he was acquired from Columbus in a trade for defenseman Jack Johnson and Los Angeles' first round pick (Marko Dano) in the 2013 NHL Draft. Decals with Carter’s No. 77 are on the front and back of the helmet, which has Kings decals on both sides. The helmet has a crack on the front right side adjacent to the upper screw that attaches to the visor, and a smaller crack down from the screw on the right front below the end of the Kings decal. A MeiGray COR is also included along with an opening night ticket stub from the first Kings game at Staples Center against Boston on October 20, 1999.
