An especially successful era for the prominent club, the Toronto Maple Leafs would miss the NHL post-season just once between 1937-38 and 1946-47, when the offered postcards were produced, with six Stanley Cup finals reached and a trio of championships won. First, the 1937-38 postcard is the first we have handled, with the team featured in the typical pose, with a banner above with “1937-38”. The postal reverse is unused, with a pinhole tear along the top and a few creases the main concerns. There is also paper loss on the reverse along with light to moderate wear to the corners. The 1946-47 Quaker Oats postcard pictures the Stanley Cup champions, with text over the reverse featuring the promotion along with a facsimile Hap Day signature, with a postmark added and the addressee handwritten. Heavy wear is present throughout, with numerous creases, along with a bit of paper loss, toning and clear tape residue over the reverse. As an added bonus, a third postcard is included, with this example featuring the McIntyre Building in Timmins, Ont, with the Leafs pictured. The postcard shows light wear along with toning, a few small stains and a pencil notation over the reverse.
