Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Operating from 1945 to 1951 as a post-war revival of the American Hockey Association, the United States Hockey League featured the Paul W. Loudon Trophy awarded to each seasons playoff champion. The inaugural 1945-46 USHL season featured seven clubs, with the Kansas City Pla-Mors taking home the first Loudon Trophy. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have team-signed sheets from three of the seven 1945-46 USHL clubs including the champion Pla-Mors, along with the Dallas Texans and Fort Worth Rangers. At approx 4 ¾” x 7 ½” give or take (each sheet slightly differs in size), each cardboard sheet features signatures in vertical rows, with each team listed along the top. Standouts include HOFer Eddie Shore (coach of Fort Worth), Leo Reise (Kansas City) and Doc Rommes (coach of Kansas City).
Each signature has been scripted in ink, with the majority displaying beautifully despite being somewhat bunched-up. The card stock sheets all show wear including creasing, with the Rangers team address affixed to the front through way of clear but now yellowed tape.
