Representing his nation as a player at the Canada Cup and World Championships, Bob Gainey would later serve as an Assistant General Manager for Team Canada at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. This group of 1998 Winter Olympics items hail from the superstar’s personal collection. Included, we have a framed display presented by the Canadian Olympic Association with team photo, signed identification badge and certificate, an official team blazer jacket, official Bauer leather team jacket, Team Canada opening ceremony jacket, cap & gloves, Roots official team jacket, a Nagano Winter Olympics sports bag, and signed souvenir jersey (not the same model as worn by the players). As an added bonus, a 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics torchbearer tracksuit complete uniform is included. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
The framed display is approx 26” x 28”, with the full roster listed for the team photo, with Gainey’s signature on his identification badge displaying nicely. The official team blazer is in solid navy, with a Moore’s label over the inner right pocket, with an embroidered Hockey Canada patch over the left breast. The heavy official Bauer brown leather team jacket has a label over the collar with “XL” sizing, with “Bauer” embroidered over the left breast. The Roots official team jacket has an Olympic rings label with “XL” sizing over the collar, with a chenille patch over the left breast and reverse, with a Nagano Games patch over the right sleeve. All three jackets remain in excellent condition with light to moderate use. The Team Canada opening ceremony jacket also sports an Olympic rings label with “XL” sizing over the collar, with a chenille patch over the left breast and reverse, with “Canada” embroidered down the right sleeve. There is some bleeding of the red material into white sections, most notably along the collar. The signed souvenir jersey has Pro labeling with “58” sizing, with a tackle twill crest and numbers, with Gainey signing the team crest in black marker, adding, “Olympics Nagano 1998”. The sturdy Olympics sports bag is in solid red, with a Nagano Olympic crest affixed on one side. The bag shows wear from use, with the mesh over the top section ripped. Lastly, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics torchbearer tracksuit has a label over the collar with “XL” sizing, with a screened Torch Relay Vancouver 2010 crest over the left breast. A sticker with the relay number “156” has been affixed over the right breast, with the matching track pants sporting a matching crest along with “Vancouver 2010” screened down the right leg. The accompanying toque with logo and red wool gloves show light wear.
