Diminutive in stature and possessing the heart of a lion, Aurele Joliat was especially feisty and physical despite his modest size, with the plucky goal scorer originally joining the Habs in a trade that sent longtime aging superstar Newsy Lalonde to Saskatoon. The Mighty Atom would win a trio of Stanley Cup championships with the bleu blanc rouge, along with the Hart Trophy as the NHL MVP in 1934. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have handwritten letter signed by the 1947 HOF inductee. At approx 6 ¼” x 10” and dated “May 18th/54”, the single fold-over sheet sports handwritten text on each side, including Joliat mentioning that Howie Morenz and Georges Vezina were “out of this world”. Signing in blue ballpoint, the signature displays well with no issues. Serving as the oldest living player from the Habs’ championship squad of 1924 before his death, Joliat passed at age 84, in 1986.
The letter exhibits just light toning along with a very small edge tear mentioned for accuracy, with holes punched along the top section to facilitate binder insertion.
