Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
The first player in history to be a member of six Stanley Cup championships, Jack Marshall first starred with the Victoria Hockey Club of Winnipeg at the close of the 19th century before additional successful seasons with Montreal’s winged wheelers and Wanderers. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a rare handwritten letter signed by the 1965 HOF inductee. At approx 5” x 8”, the two-page fold-over correspondence is dated “July 19/53”, with Marshall mentioning the sending of a 1902 Montreal Hockey Club photo as well as a 1903 team photo acquired from Dickie Boon. Fully administered in black ink, the signature is flawless, with Marshall also adding “Jack” in quotations beneath the signature. Marshall would sadly pass in 1965 at the age of 88.
In beautiful condition, sporting just the original horizontal fold lines along with a bit of very minor spotting on the front, the letter has holes punched along the top from previous binder insertion.
