Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Originally designed to sell Old Blue Ribbon Kentucky straight bourbon, and now, a half century later, the perfect display pieces for both their size and charming design, we have a collection of four hockey alcohol decanters from the early-1970s. 14 1/2" in height and ceramic construction including removable helmets with cork stoppers, three examples hail from 1971, with “Liquor Bottle 185” and “Created by Paul Lux 1971” on the underside of each. Generic in nature with no jersey crests or numbers, one example in Windy City colours has “Chicago Blackhawks” decals, with the other two in both Rangers and Blues colours. The fourth decanter has “1973” on the underside along with the Lux text and is somewhat smaller, at just over 13”, with this example in Red Wings red and white.
The three larger decanters all sports Old Blue Ribbon stickers along the lower reverse, with additional “Colonial” China decals on the Black Hawks and Blues bottles. The Rangers and Blues both have tax stamps over the upper reverse (just residue on the Blues), with the sticker continuing onto the helmet on the Rangers bottle. All four remain in excellent condition with just light wear, with some minor dirt/dust staining to the Rangers decanter. We should also note that the Blue and Rangers have broken corks, with each helmet loose.
