Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Remembered for his heavily curved stick and face-off dominance, Stan Mikita spent parts of 22 seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks, with multiple Hart Memorial, Art Ross and Lady Byng trophies won. We have a stick used by the HOFer during the early-1970s. A Northland Custom Pro model, “Mikita” and “21” are stamped on the upper shaft, with additional stamps on either side of the shaft from supplier Gunzo’s. The original black tape remains on the blade, with the heavily-taped handle having white-over white cloth-over black tape, with a strand loose. There is also a model number stamped on the lower shaft. Moderate to heavier use is exhibited, with a crack to the tip of the blade and slightly separated fiberglass, with numerous marks to the shaft including paint transfer.
The underside of the blade also shows expected wear, and we should note some pencil markings in a few places on the shaft.
