Sometimes, you just fall in love with certain things in life, with our consignor obviously a Wayne Gretzky aficionado and a lover of blue-bordered 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee cards. Before we get to the condition details of the seven Gretz rookies here, we can tell you that while checking out the different groups of star/key/rookie cards, we observe a majority of EX-or-better grades, with however intermittent creased/VG-or-lesser cards also in the mix. Just one team checklist is marked, with all other checklists/team checklists, including the notable Oilers logo/checklist cards, not marked. The Gretzky RCs meanwhile, do not mirror their counterparts, with the best not quite making it to EX, being off-centered and VG-EX+. Another is a tad lower in appearance but is further lowered by a pen mark underlining “18” on the back. A centered example is similar but it’s debatable whether blue touch-up was added to an edge. The four others have multiple creases, with two of them F and the other two P, with however no writing, tears or holes. Plenty of possibilities here, with seven each of Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull’s last NHL cards from their playing days, Mike Bossy’s second-year card and an assortment of rookie and other star cards, all adding up to seven complete sets.
