Originating from only their third and fourth seasons in franchise history when they were recognized as the Cougars, we have a pair of rare Detroit Olympia programs from the late-1920s, with match-ups between the soon-to-be Detroit Falcons against the Ottawa Senators. The first example hails from a Nov 24th contest near the beginning of the 1927-28 season, with the game finishing in a 1-1 draw despite overtime. Seven Hall of Fame members are featured in the rosters, including Reg Noble for Detroit and George Boucher for Ottawa. The second program was sold for a Nov 19th contest during the 1929-30 campaign, won by the visiting Senators 6-4, with HOFer Ebbie Goodfellow featured in his rookie season with Detroit, while the Senators featuring stars Frank Finnigan, Joe Lamb and Walt Kilrea.
Identical in size and design, both programs have the date and score handwritten on the cover, with numerous notations within each line-up page. Each also sports rusty staples - with the line-up page in the 1929-30 program partially detached - with each showing rust-colour residue left from a paper clip within a few interior pages. Overall, the programs display well despite the technical issues, with just otherwise moderate handling wear with the odd crease or wrinkle.
