Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
The brainchild of Wayne Gretzky and friends, the Ninety Nine All Stars Tour was created to promote hockey around the globe as well as raise money for charity during the 1994-95 NHL lockout. Matches were contested against both professional and all-star clubs, with 8 total games played in 5 different countries. Doug Gilmour took part in the tour wearing this video-matched jersey, seeing action in at least three contests. A Maska Ultrafil label along with a size “52” fly tag sit affixed to the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with “Ninety-Nine" embroidered across the chest in attractive script, the white sweater has been accented with tackle twill stars over the upper and lower front, along with an NHLPA crest on the right breast and sponsorship patches over each upper sleeve.
We should note that the three confirmed games played by the HOFer including December 9 vs Djurgårdens IF (8-3 win), December 12 vs Malmö IF (6-5 OT loss) and December 14 vs German All Stars (8-5 win). Stick marks are present over the lower front, with a few additional marks over each sleeve. There is also some light staining over each shoulder and around the outer collar. The video-match is from the Dec 9, 1994 9-3 win vs. Djurgarden (Sweden), with the video matched to the slightly crooked placement of the LA Gear patch in correlation to the sleeve stripe, to the placement of the back numbers in correlation to the red and white striping, and to the lower left portion of the “3” going into the red striping at an angle. A DVD of the game will be included.
