Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
We surmise that numerous hobbyists, without the means to secure a high grade Bobby Orr rookie card, wish that there were more "survivors" similar to this example of Orr's highly-coveted 1966-67 Topps rookie. Hockey cards were made to have fun with and someone surely enjoyed this specimen, at some point pasting it into a scrapbook, with glue and paper now clinging to the reverse. We count five separate creases when viewing the front, with a horizontal affair through the young star's forehead, just above his eyebrows, and another attaining his right cheek and nose. A hint of yellow lettering from another card is detected in the top border. Slabbed and graded PR 1 by PSA, this Orr RC, despite its flaws, is still cool to hold and check out. In his first NHL season, when this card was pulled from a Topps pack, Bobby scored 13 goals and 41 points to win the Calder Trophy as rookie-of-the-year, his first of 16 major individual trophies.
