Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
"The Trail of the Stanley Cup" is a definite prerequisite to any important hockey library. Author Charles Coleman's complete history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967 is contained within these three books. Only 1,000 copies of the special leather-bound editions of the first and second book were produced and presented to important hockey figures, while the third was limited to 1,500 copies. The books in this full set include a limited-edition leather-bound copy with detailed slipcover for the first edition, numbered 996, with the second and third editions featuring paper dust jackets. The volume 2 is signed on inside pages by deceased HOFer Sid Abel twice and the volume 3 is signed on separate pages by deceased HOFers Elmer Lach (2), Frank Boucher, Tom Johnson (2), Aurele Joliat, Bill Cowley, Bill Cook, Marcel Pronovost (2) and Sid Abel and HOFers Bobby Hull and Leo Boivin.
Vol 1 is in beautiful condition with just some creasing and surface loss to the book slipcover, while the second volume’s dust jacket exhibits some toning along with a tear and edge wear. Finally, the third volume has some foxing along edges, with the dust jacket creased and torn, with clear tape added.
