Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Originating from the season before his passing – his first in Buffalo – we have a stick used by legendary defenceman and HOFer Tim Horton, in 1972-73. Dressing for 69 games during his inaugural season with the Sabres, this Sher-Wood PMP Pattern Made stick has “Horton” stamped over the upper shaft, with “2” handwritten twice, once below the name stamp, and again, midway up the shaft. A factory date code of “? Oct 1972” also appears along the underside. The original black tape remains on the blade along with the white and black “spiral” pattern over the handle. With somewhat worn but intact striping accents, the stick shows heavy use, with considerable wear to the blade including numerous puck marks along with a separation at the heel section. Gouges and cuts are also visible over the shaft, with a streak of black running down the top side.
