Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

The most highly-publicized player to enter the NHL, Jean Beliveau appears here prior to his long-awaited NHL debut, with his 1952-53 St. Lawrence Sales card picturing him with the Quebec Aces and meriting, at the SGC grading firm, a second-to-none mark of NM/MT 8. The QSHL superstar, after staying in Quebec for two years of senior hockey following his two years with the junior Citadels, would finally join the Montreal Canadiens for the '53-54 campaign. "Le Gros Bill" would continue to be a hockey giant, forging a legacy both on and off the ice that would elevate him to hockey immortal status. Thus, a gigantic opportunity here with this SGC Population Report chart-topper, (just five total submissions over the years), while a pair of PSA 8.5s exist, along with a trio at PSA 8. Beliveau scored 50 goals and 89 points (QSHL highs) in 57 games with the Aces in '52-53, while Canadiens' management and fans were saying their prayers in hopes that the star would sign with Montreal. What a saga, with a happy ending indeed. You'll be more than happy when this inspiring specimen is delivered!
