Captain Canada was the nickname Ryan Smyth earned for leading his country to world championship gold medals in 2003 and 2004. An Olympic gold medalist in 2002, Smyth wore this Team Canada jersey when he competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. IIHF tagging sits in the back of the collar below the screened Nike logo and size 60. Nike inventory bar code label is screened inside the left rear tail and a Velcro patch is sewn inside the right rear hem. Game wear shows in black marks on the front, including the Canada crest, the upper back and both sleeves, as well as a couple of reddish-brown spot stains on the back of the left shoulder, and staining around the collar. Comes with a Hockey Canada LOA.
This set of white Nike Swift Team Canada uniforms features ground-breaking technology and was worn by members of the Canadian squad throughout three of the six games in Turin, Italy during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. The three matches included the exhibition opener, a 7-1 defeat of Italy, the devastating loss to Switzerland on February 18th and about against the Russians February 22nd, 2006.
The revolutionary white Nike Swift jerseys are constructed of at least twenty separate panels of six different materials in a dramatic departure from the traditional hockey uniform. Each sports the embroidered Team Canada crest on the front with Heritage-style maple leafs up on each shoulder. Red and black side and arm striping accents the look and two-tone tackle twill numbers sit on each sleeve and again on the back below the nameplate.
