This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Featuring the beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, we have a complete set of 10 1966-67 Hockey Talks records, along with a 23-print near set of Prudential’s "Great Moment in Canadian Sports" from the 1970s. Distributed by Esso, the set of 10 thin Hockey Talks records feature Toronto players in action on the front and head shots on the reverse, along with facsimile autographs. The collection includes Armstrong, Bower, Keon, Mahovlich, Horton, Pulford, Selby, Shack, Ellis and coach Imlach, with each giving hockey tips on their respective 33 1/3 rpm records. The majority exhibit light wear, with the original 9 ¾” x 11 ¾” cardboard carry case (heavier wear with creasing and a torn away handle) included. Paul Henderson’s “Goal of the Century” is featured in this near set of Prudential “Great Moments in Canadian Sports”. Henderson is depicted celebrating his Summit Series-clinching goal with Team Canada mates Yvan Cournoyer and Phil Esposito in front of sprawled Soviet goaltender Vladislav Tretiak in one of the seven hockey scenes included in each 25-print set. Lester Patrick’s remarkable turn in goal for the Rangers in the 1928 Stanley Cup final, Maurice “Rocket” Richard’s incredible 50 goals in 50 games in 1945, the first meeting of 50-goal scorers in NHL history in 1962 between Chicago’s Bobby Hull and Montreal’s Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion, the Maple Leafs’ 1962 Stanley Cup win, Gordie Howe’s record-breaking 545th goal in 1963, and Darryl Sittler’s 6-goal, 10-point game in 1976 are the other magnificent hockey scenes in the collection. Barbara Ann Scott, Northern Dancer, Lionel Conacher, Jackie Parker, Russ Jackson, Percy Williams, the Bluenose and the Calgary Stampede are among the other iconic Canadian sports stories illustrated in this remarkable near set of nicely preserved 16 1/2" x 12 1/2" prints. In excellent condition, the prints suffer from just light corner wear and toning, with the odd ding.
