Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A minor-league staple for almost a quarter-century, the St. Louis Flyers first iced a team in the AHA during the close of the Roaring Twenties in 1928-29, playing in the defunct league for 14 seasons before moving-onto the AHL during the war years, in 1944-45. Hailing from the franchises final season of existence in 1952-53, we have a Flyers team-signed stick. Desirable in its own right, this Northland Pro model features manufacturer's stamps on each side of the shaft along with examples from prominent Detroit supplier Lippman’s, with both striping accents intact and untouched. Approx. 18 have signed in varying inks on either side of the shaft, with a few signatures visible along the blade as well. Included are Guyle Fielder, Ken Hayden, Carl Boone, Bert Hirschfeld, Joe Lund, Harry Taylor, Brent MacNab, Ed Harrison, coach and 1920s/30s netminder Vernon Forbes and others. The signatures all present well with a few examples heavily faded over the blade, with the stick itself in stunning NOS condition.
